Windmill Farm

A little bit more about our trip home from the baseball tournament. We passed by a large windmill energy farm and the boys were wide eyed with excitement, Mom and Dad were too! It’s quite impressive to drive through the middle of this large windmill farm, it’s almost dizzying. In the small town located nearby, one of the windmill blades was strapped to the ground for the curious to explore….so of course, we did! The blade is approximately 120 feet long, stands well over 10 feet at the widest part, and takes 54 bolts to connect to the center portion (Jonah counted.) It was quite a site and we all enjoyed the stop.

The 3 guys in my life.... Levi, Randy, & Jonah

Melissa, great blog, and what a nice way for your boys to look back and remember their baseball!

VERY cool about the windmill farm, that blade is unbelievably HUGE!

Melissa, these are great pics! I have designed some of these Windmill projects - one in Iowa and one in Illinois. The company I work at has been designing them for 3 or 4 years. They are indeed HUGE! That pic of you all standing next to a blade is really cool :)

Dh and I were just talking about whether there were windmills farms in the US. We saw isolated windmills and one huge farm on our way to Berlin this past week

That is a HUGE blade. We've also seen some of those fields in our travels, but we've never taken the time to stop.
